In today’s world, different government and international organizations are confronting many global problems. What is the most pressing problem among them and give solutions?
Complete the topic within 20 minutes. Write a 200-300 word essay.
Model Answer:
There are so many problems erupting all over the world. From world hunger to widespread epidemics, from terrorism to pollution, the list is endless. In this essay, I will delve into one of the predominant global issues that several governments and international organizations have been confronting and combating.
Contrary to most recent beliefs of certain heads of governments,climate changeis very real. In the past 50 years, the Earth’s average temperature has seen a dramatic increase due to aggressive human encroachment on natural resources. Greenhouse gas emissions have increased by a staggering 80% since 1970 and the former’s concentration in the atmosphere is at its record high.
There have been extreme weather events such as more frequent hurricanes, storms and droughts and substantial changes in rainfall patterns. Glaciers and sea ice are disappearing, leading to an increase in sea level. Ecosystems are getting destroyed and several people rendered homeless. Diseases have plagued the planet, leading to famine and wars.
Since the number one cause of greenhouse gas emission is burning of fossil fuels, the first and foremost step to combat this issue is to reduce the use of the latter. The energy obtained from coal, oil, and gas needs to be utilized efficiently. Clean energy is the future and such energy derived from wind, tidal, wave and solar sources can be used as an alternative wherever possible. The other solution will be to redesign current transportation systems to involve the maximum use of public transport and gradually replacing petrol driven cars with hybrids or electric vehicles.
Climate change is a massive challenge and the need of the hour is to effectively resolve the same so our children can see the future we dreamed of them.
