China will start the third phase of 5G technical testsnext year, as it aims to get pre-commercial 5Gproducts ready when standards on the next-generation communication technology areexpected to come out in June 2018.

中国将于明年开始第三阶段的5G技术测试，拟在2018年6月出台下一代通信技术标准之前就准备好试用的5G通信产品。

Wen Ku, director of the telecom developmentdepartment at the Ministry of Industry andInformation Technology, said at a news conferencethat "the third phase of technical tests is to ensurethat companies are capable of making pre-commercial 5G products."

工业和信息化部信息通信发展司司长闻库在新闻发布会上表示：“技术测试的第三阶段将确保公司能够做好预先商用的5G电信产品。”

According to him, more efforts will be made to accelerate tests on network planning, systems, chips and other products of the industrial chain, which will help lay down a soundfoundation for the fast development of a 5G network in China.

据他表示，我国将会投入更多的努力，加快对网络规划、系统、芯片和其他工业链条中的产品的测试。这些工作将为中国快速发展的5G网络奠定坚实的基础。

It will allow consumers to download an 8-gigabit movie in seconds and execute tasks that arethrilling but impossible in the 4G era, such as self-driving cars.

使用5G网络，将会使得消费者可以在数秒内下载完成一部8g大的电影，并且可以执行一些在4g时做不到的超级酷炫的任务，比如无人驾驶汽车。

'We aim to closely follow the global community's schedule on 5G standards. As soon as astandard is finalized, we will optimize equipment and modify our tests in accordance with it,'Wen said.

闻库表示：“我们的目标是严格遵守全球组织计划的5G标准。只要这个标准一经落实，我们将会优化设备并且调整测试与之吻合。”

Currently, the country is pushing forward the second phase of 5G tests. Domestic and foreigntelecom firms are playing an active role in the process, with contributions from HuaweiTechnologies Co Ltd, ZTE Corp, Ericsson AB and Nokia Corp.

目前，我国正在推进5G测试的第二个阶段。国内外的电信公司，如华为、中兴、爱立信和诺基亚，都在这个过程中起到了积极的作用。
