1. Own something?

1. 拥有某物?

Use's to show it: John's toilet.

用's表示：如John's toilet(约翰的厕所)。

If the name ends in s: Add another ’s after it: Chris's plunger.

如果名字以s结尾，后面加上's：如Chris's plunger(克里斯的活塞)。

Inanimate objects can also “own” something: Yesterday's rainbow.

无生命物体也可以“拥有”某物，如Yesterday's rainbow(昨天的彩虹)。

Put'after the s: The BRI members' toilets.

在s后面加上'，如：The BRI members' toilets(生物研究所成员的厕所)。

4. More than one owns the same thing?

Add 's to the second one. John and Gordon's toothbrush.

5. Letter not usually plural?

Add 's to make it plural: Cross your t's.

6. Taking out letters?

Replace with 's. Here is = Here's.

用’s代替。如Here is = Here's。

Use it's when you could say “it is”: It’s my toilet = It is my toilet.

当你说“it is”时用it's：如It's my toilet = It is my toilet(这是我的厕所)。

Use its for belonging to: The cheeky monkey pooped its pants.

从属关系用its：如The cheeky monkey pooped its pants(那只厚脸皮的猴子把它的裤子套上了)。

The pants belong to the monkey; you wouldn't say, “The cheeky monkey pooped it is pants.”

裤子属于猴子的，你不能说成The cheeky monkey pooped it is pants。
