UKiset语法笔记：rather than和other than的用法

语法至关重要，却很容易被绝大多数的考生所忽视。UKiset考试需要考生不仅有一定的词汇量，同时必须掌握基础语法知识，把握句子逻辑结构，才能快速理解核心内容，定位正确答案，并写出一篇合格的考场作文。

今天我们来学习rather than和other than的用法，一起学习吧。

01than

(用以比较)比

I love travelling by train more than by plane.

比起坐飞机，我更喜欢乘火车旅行。

We all live better lives than ten years ago.

我们都比十年前过得好。

They are walking slower than an hour ago.

他们比一小时前走得慢。

(表示一事紧跟另一事发生)就

No sooner had we left the house than it began to rain.

我们一出门就开始下雨了。

No sooner had I finished the test than the bell rang.

我刚考完（完成测试），铃就响了。

注意：

No sooner…… than……句型里，

两谓语动词的发生时间尽管很近，但还是有先后，所以先发生的用完成时；

No sooner在句首，后面要用倒装句。

02rather than

…而不… ；与其…倒不如…

I prefer tea rather than coffee.

我喜欢茶而不是咖啡。

I chose to learn German rather than French.

我选择学德语而不是法语。

He preferred to stay at home rather than go shopping with wife.

他宁愿呆在家里也不愿和妻子去购物。

We'd better struggle for the future rather than regret for the past.

比起悔恨过去，我们最好为未来奋斗。

She is a girl who'd do anything rather than displease his parents.

她是个无论如何也不会惹父母生气的孩子。

注意：

rather than后面如果是动词短语，一般是原形。

rather than是主动选择。

03other than

除了；不同，不同于

The doctor advised about many things other than medicine.

除了药，医生还做了很多医嘱。

You can't get there other than on foot.

你只能步行去那里。

There is no way out other than the fire escape.

除了防火梯外没有别的出路。

I have never known him to behave other than selfishly.

我从没见过他除了自私还有别的行为。

Other than blowing up a tyre，I haven't done any car maintenance.

除了充气，我没有做过任何汽车维修。

注意：

other than是介词，后面的动词用动名词。

other than是客观情况。

04none other than

就是;不是别的而正是

It was none other than my head teacher.

不是别人，正是我的班主任。

It's none other than Tom! We thought you were in Africa!

不是别人，正是汤姆！我们还以为你在非洲！
