　　SAT语法考试句子合并题在解题过程中要注意遵循“简洁和有效”两个基本原则。简洁就是避免无谓的重复，不要拖泥带水，啰里啰嗦。有效就是逻辑清楚，表达顺畅。原来句子的基本意思不能改变，也就是说不能随便添加或者删除原来两句话的基本内容;也要做到重心不偏离。

　　原来的两句话要分清楚是哪一句是所要表达的主要意思，如果要合并成主从复合句的话，那么这个主要的意思应该作为主句，次要的意思作为从句。

　　解题要点：去重、加连、降级。去重就是去掉重复的部分，有个别的题目在这一步整个题目就完成了。加连，就是根据两个句子间的逻辑关系，添加适当的连接手段，包括并列连词、从属连词和从句连接词。降级就是把其中一个句子变为另一个句子的一个附属成分，包括短语和从句。

　　我们下边以真题为例，详解一下具体如何操作。

　　【Sample1】

　　The NSSS provides online training onoperating the new software. It also provides online training oninterpreting the enhanced radar data.

　　Which choice mosteffectively combines the sentencesat the underlined portion?

　　解题思路：这个题目中，第二个句子中“Italso provides online training on”与第一句话总的“The NWS provides online training on”是重复的，我们把这个重复的部分去掉，答案就在A和B里面选择了。并列的两个v-ing短语用and，因此正确答案为B。

　　In 2013, Yellowstone had more than 3 billiontourists. They spent a total of nearly 5380 million in and around the park.

　　A) tourist, the ones who spent

　　解题思路：这个题目中，第二句话中的“they”指的是第一句话中的“tourists”，那么这个关联就给我们提供了解题的线索，也就是用定语从句来连接两个句子。正确答案为C。

　　Some filmmakers expect historicalconsultants to comit to long-term projects. Other filmmakers give historicalconsultants tasks that can becompleted in a short period of time.

　　Which choice most effectively combines thesentences at the underlined portion?

　　A) projects, while others assign tasks

　　解题思路：这个题目中，把重复的部分去掉之后呢，那么两句话之间的逻辑关系明显是对比关系，就是一些filmmakers注重长期的项目，而另外一些filmmakers给这些顾问短期的项目，因此使用连词while。正确答案为A。

　　【Sample4】

　　Lightning bolts can be up to five timeshotter than the surface of the Sun. This is far hotter than the meltingpoint of silice, the compound that is the primary constituent of sand and mosttypes of rock.

　　解题思路：这个题目就更简单了，这个this是多余的，直接重复hotter就可以了。正确答案为D。
