O-Level英语语法：wood和wooden用法区别分析

01forest

森林;林区;(森林似的)一丛，一片

A cigarette spark started the forest fire.

香烟的火花引发了森林大火。

A path winds through the forest.

一条小路蜿蜒穿过森林。

Half of the forest was cut down to make room for the road.

为了给道路腾出空间，森林被砍伐了一半。

02wood

树林;林地；木;木头;木料;木材;木柴

The chairs are not made of wood.

这些椅子不是木头做的。

Put some more wood on the fire.

再往火堆上添些木柴。

Follow the path through the woods.

沿着小路穿过树林。

03wooden

木制的;木头的;木头似的;死板的;呆板的;木讷的

There's a wooden bridge over the river.

河上有一座木桥。

We spent the night in a wooden hut.

我们在一个木屋里过了一夜。

She gave a wooden smile to the camera.

她对着照相机呆板地笑了一下。

I thought the lead actor gave rather a wooden performance.

04log

原木;

(某时期事件的)正式记录，日志

log in/on 登入

log off/out退出；注销

Tom lives in a log cabin.

汤姆住在小木屋里。

He split the log into several pieces.

他把木头劈成几块。

He didn't log off until midnight.

他直到午夜才下线。

The file is a private file that you are not allowed to see, or you are not logged in.

该文件是不允许您查看的私人文件，或者您没有登录（网站）。

05forest，wood和jungle区别

forest（森林）面积大，树木密度高，阳光很少穿过树冠，照射到森林地面；

wood（树林）面积较小，动植物种类也较少。树木密度低，所以充足的阳光。

还有一点值得注意，wood大多用复数woods表示树林。

We encamped in the woods for the night.

我们在树林里扎营过夜。

jungle不是科学术语，是口头语，一般指赤道附近热带雨林（rainforest）低矮稠密的矮树丛。

06wood和wooden区别

简单地说，表示“木材制造的”，wood和wooden都可以，

wooden/wood bench木制长凳

wooden/wood furniture 木制家具

只是用wooden的的频率大约是用wood的3倍以上。

和woolen, golden等描述物质的形容词一样，诗歌或比喻等文学性表达里一般用wooden。

07常用习语

can't see the wood for the trees.

见木不见林

因小失大

You can't see the wood for the trees, you are confused.

你是见木不见林，心里乱了。

In other words, sometimes they can't see the wood for the trees.

换言之，有时他们会拣了芝麻丢了西瓜。

If, at any point, you can't see the wood for the trees, it's time to leave it alone.

如果，在任何时候，你分不清轻重了，那么就先放一边。

sleep like a log

熟睡;睡得很沉

I went to bed early last night and slept like a log.

我昨晚很早就睡了，而且睡得很死。

I can sleep like a log in almost any place, including airplanes and cars.

我几乎在哪儿都可以熟睡，包括飞机上和汽车里。
