　　虽然SAT考试中的作文部分是可选项。但这一部分也无疑是考试中最令人生畏的部分。考试时间十分有限，几乎没有出错的空间，除非你是世界著名的作家，否则SAT中的写作部分可能是最难的一部分。

　　1. further

　　– v. 增进，促进 ≈ promote

　　E.g. For the first time, President Donald Trump faces a formal accusation that he personally broke the law to further his candidacy.

　　特朗普总统第一次面对正式指控，指控他为在总统候选上再进一步而违法。

　　further 一般都作为 far 的比较级，需强调单词本可作动词：

　　further education / one’s career / the cause （事业） of world peace

　　2. dog

　　– v. ~ sb/sth（长期）困扰，折磨，纠缠

　　E.g. Neither Mr Manafort’s conviction nor Mr Cohen’s plea is directly related to the allegations of collusion with Russia that have dogged the Trump campaign, and are being investigated by Robert Mueller, the special counsel.

　　无论是 Mr Manafort 的判罪还是 Mr Cohen 的有罪陈述，都无法直接联系到一直困扰特朗普竞选团队的指控。由“通俄门”专项调查组 Robert Mueller 调查的该指控认为竞选团队与俄罗斯勾结。

　　dog 作动词不属于学生们的常用的熟词僻义，但若有所了解，使用恰当会为文章增色不少：

　　sth dog the investigation

　　sb/sth be dogged by injury / controversy / ill health

　　3. plague

　　–v. 困扰；折磨；给…造成长时间的痛苦（或麻烦）

　　E.g. Water shortages and blackouts plague cities.

　　缺水和断电困扰着（委内瑞拉的）城市。

　　plague 一般学生用名词“瘟疫”记诵，需强调单词可作动词：

　　1)be plagued by/with something:

　　to cause pain, suffering, or trouble to someone, especially for a long period of time

　　E.g.

　　He was plagued by eye troubles.

　　Financial problems continued to plague the company.

　　2) plague somebody with something:

　　to annoy someone, especially by asking for something many times or asking them many questions

　　E.g.

　　The kids have been plaguing me with questions.

　　4.wage

　　– v. 开始，发动，进行，继续（战争、战斗等）

　　E.g. Mr Maduro says this is the fault of “imperialist” powers like America, which are waging “economic war” on Venezuela.

　　Mr Maduro 认为，是那些对委内瑞拉发动贸易战的美国等帝国主义强权的锅。

　　wage 一般学生用名词“战争”记诵，需强调单词可作动词：

　　wage war (on somebody/something)

　　wage a campaign/struggle/battle etc.

　　wage 作动词在 SAT 中高频出现，在基础班和强化班中也一再强调，希望童鞋们能够加深印象。
